President William Ruto has reaffirmed Kenya’s standing as a global athletics powerhouse, stating that the country’s pride in sports extends beyond the 11 medals won at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
He said this while welcoming and recognizing the victorious Team Kenya at the State Lodge in Eldoret.
President Ruto emphasized that Kenya’s athletic potential remains immense and underexploited.
“Welcomed and recognised our golden stars at the State Lodge, Eldoret, after their triumphant outing in the Olympic Games Paris 2024. Congratulations Team Kenya,” he said.
He noted that Kenya’s potential remains immense and underexploited adding the Country will continue to scale up collaboration with stakeholders to elevate the profile as the Land of Champions.
“Kenya’s pride in athletics does not end in the 11 medals that we won in the Olympic Games. Our potential remains immense and underexploited. We will scale-up collaboration with stakeholders to elevate our profile as the Land of Champions,” he said.

He pledged the government’s commitment to fostering deeper partnerships to ensure Kenya remains at the forefront of global athletics.
