President William Ruto has praised ODM leader Raila Odinga for his vigorous campaign for the African Union Commission (AUC) chairperson position, describing it as a unifying effort for Kenya, Eastern Africa, and the continent at large.
In a statement issued from State House, Mombasa, Ruto acknowledged Odinga’s commitment and presence across various African capitals, where he championed a vision for the continent’s transformation.
“Hon Raila Odinga rolled out a formidable and effective campaign for the position of African Union Commission chairperson across the continent. He was present and available for the busy schedules and appointments in nearly all capitals of Africa,” the President noted.

Ruto highlighted Odinga’s inspiring message on Africa’s development agenda, which resonated with leaders across the continent.
“We thank everyone who contributed to his campaign. A special mention to the entire Africa for its show of solidarity and support to Kenya and Hon Odinga,” he added.
The President further emphasized Kenya’s commitment to fostering continental unity and enhancing intra-African trade through improved infrastructure and economic collaboration.

“At State House, Mombasa, we reflected with Hon Odinga on Kenya’s just-ended bid for the African Union Commission chairperson position. We remain focused on accelerating the momentum in building a united continent with sufficient infrastructure to further intra-African trade,” Ruto stated.
