President William Ruto has said the government’s Affordable Housing Programme is delivering decent homes across the country while creating significant employment opportunities for young people.
He noted that the initiative has so far generated 640,000 jobs for the youth, in addition to transforming living conditions by moving residents from informal settlements into modern housing units.
Ruto further said the programme will help curb the sub-division of arable land in the long term, thereby contributing to national food security.
“Our affordable housing programme has not only taken shape in every part of the country, but it is also delivering decent homes and creating hundreds of thousands of jobs for young people,” he said.
The President spoke when he laid the foundation stone for the 189-unit Nyachenge Affordable Housing Project in South Mugirango, Kisii County.
He emphasized that the housing agenda remains a key pillar in improving livelihoods and stimulating economic growth through job creation and infrastructure development.
