Raila Odinga’s spokesperson, Dennis Onyango, has strongly refuted recent claims circulating about the health of the former Prime Minister, branding them as baseless propaganda driven by political opponents.

Onyango alleged that a group of leaders—led by impeached former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, alongside former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka and ex-Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa, was behind a coordinated campaign of misinformation, including the use of AI-generated images to mislead the public.

“The same people who actively worked to derail Raila’s African Union Commission candidacy are now fabricating stories about his health,” Onyango said. “Their goal is to pressure him into joining their political crusade against President William Ruto.”

He emphasized that Raila Odinga is in good health and has not travelled to Europe for medical treatment, as some reports had claimed. Instead, the ODM leader is on one of his regular international visits.

“Raila has always been transparent about his health status,” Onyango noted. “He informed the country when he underwent surgery in 2010 while serving as Prime Minister, and again when he tested positive for Covid-19 in 2021. He would not hesitate to do so again if there was cause for concern.”

Onyango also reiterated Raila’s continued support for the formation of a broad-based government and his cooperative relationship with President Ruto, describing the opposition’s recent behaviour as a reaction to Raila’s refusal to be used as a political pawn.

“Raila believes that extraordinary threats to the country demand extraordinary compromises,” he stated. “He is committed to fostering national unity and stability, whether at home or abroad.”

The spokesperson concluded by accusing Raila’s detractors of attempting to manipulate him into endorsing their political ambitions, rather than offering meaningful leadership.

“Their only hope is to force Raila into providing a platform for their anti-Ruto campaign. That won’t happen,” Onyango affirmed.
