Controversial self-proclaimed prophet David Owuor has defended his ministry after the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) poked holes in his faith-based healing claims, most recently at his Nakuru crusade.
Owuor, through his Ministry of Repentance and Holiness, has been claiming to heal people miraculously, including the physically challenged and those suffering from chronic illnesses such as HIV and cancer. KMPDC questioned the purported healings and emphasised evidence-based medicine.
In a lengthy statement on social media, the preacher insisted that he does not tell people to stop their medications after his miraculous healings.
"When someone attends our meetings, they continue taking their prescribed medications and following their treatment plans exactly as their doctors instructed," said Owuor.While defending his healings, he shared a series of medical documents showing people he had healed from HIV and invited the government to assess them, exuding confidence that the findings would exonerate him.
"Once the said investigation is complete, we believe the findings should be made public. Kenyans deserve to know what's actually happening, whether these healings hold up under scrutiny or not," he added.He also challenged the government and journalists to interview the people he has healed if they have doubts in his ministry.
