President William Ruto has reaffirmed his commitment to fostering a unified, inclusive administration through the Broad-Based governance arrangement, amid rising tensions over the political truce between the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and the opposition Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party.

Speaking during an interdenominational prayer service at Kadika Primary School in Suna East Constituency on the first day of his three-day working tour of Migori County, President Ruto emphasized that the Broad-Based model is not a platform for political rivalry but a vehicle for national cooperation and shared growth.“The Broad-Based arrangement is not about competition,” President Ruto said. “It is about cooperation, inclusion, and delivering development to all Kenyans regardless of their political affiliation.”

His remarks come as divisions emerge within ODM ranks, with some leaders expressing discomfort over the party’s participation in the governance framework.

The head of state urged leaders across the political divide to rise above partisan interests and embrace unity in steering the country’s development agenda.Accompanied by several area leaders, the President received vocal support for his vision of an inclusive government.

Local leaders echoed his sentiments, underscoring the need for collaboration and equitable distribution of development resources.

As part of his development pledge to Migori residents, President Ruto announced a package of key infrastructure and housing projects. These include the expansion and upgrading of critical roads to bitumen standards and the construction of at least 2,000 affordable housing units in Kehancha, Kuria West—a move expected to boost both employment and urban growth in the region.

The President’s tour of Migori is seen as part of his broader strategy to solidify support across political strongholds while advancing his bottom-up economic transformation agenda.
