Construction of the long-awaited Rironi-Mau Summit Road is finally set to begin in August, President William Ruto has announced.

Speaking at State House, Nairobi, during a meeting with leaders from Nakuru County on Wednesday, the President said that the project’s design and technical preparations are nearly complete, paving the way for groundbreaking in two months.

“We’ve reached an agreement with the contractors to accelerate the work and ensure the road is completed by 2027. Even if not fully done, a significant portion should be finished by then,” President Ruto stated.

Among those present at the meeting were Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika, Trade and Investments Cabinet Secretary Lee Kinyanjui, and other local leaders.

According to the President, the Rironi-Mau Summit Road will initially feature four lanes from Rironi to Naivasha town, along with upgrades to the Maai Mahiu-Naivasha stretch.

From Naivasha to Nakuru City, the road will expand to six lanes to handle the growing traffic demand along the busy corridor.
