The Police Reforms Working Group is set to hold a press conference today at the Kenya Human Rights Commission (KHRC) offices to announce planned actions aimed at securing justice for Albert Ojwang, who died under controversial circumstances while in police custody.
The coalition, which brings together several civil society organisations advocating for police accountability and human rights, is expected to outline a series of legal, advocacy, and public engagement initiatives targeting those allegedly involved in the death.
The group has expressed outrage over what it terms a pattern of abuse and impunity within the police service, saying Ojwang’s death must be a turning point for reform.
Ojwang’s death has sparked widespread public anger, protests, and increased scrutiny on law enforcement practices in the country.
Several police officers and civilians are currently under investigation, with the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) leading the probe.
