Pastor Elizabeth Mokoro has stirred intense reactions online after delivering a controversial message urging young women to take their marital status seriously before the age of 25. In a recent sermon that has since gone viral, Pastor Mokoro advised women to begin fasting and praying as soon as they reach 23 if they are not yet married.

“Ladies, when you hit 23 years without a husband, start fasting and praying,” she declared. “Because the minute you hit 25, you are no longer single, you are an unmarried woman.”

Her comments, though framed within the context of spiritual urgency, have drawn mixed reactions across social media. Many critics argue that such teachings place unnecessary pressure on women, promote outdated gender expectations, and reduce a woman’s value to her marital status. Others, however, defend the pastor’s message as a call for intentionality and preparation in relationships.

Pastor Mokoro went on to suggest that society begins to view women differently as they age, especially if they remain unmarried: “There is an age you reach as a woman, even when you tell someone you are single, they will not believe you.”

Her remarks have reignited conversations around faith, feminism, and the societal expectations placed on women in their twenties. While some applaud her for being frank and “telling it like it is,” others are calling for more empowering narratives that embrace diverse timelines for love, success, and personal fulfillment.
