The Departmental Committee on Administration and Internal Security, chaired by Hon. Gabriel Tongoyo, on Monday, September 15, held a session with the newly formed State Department for National Government Coordination led by Principal Secretary Hon. Ahmed Abdisalan.

In its deliberations, the Committee raised concerns over overlaps of functions with other ministries, departments, and agencies, emphasizing the need to streamline operations to avoid duplication.

The meeting focused on progress reports outlining policies, strategies, and frameworks developed by the Department to enhance service delivery, as well as the legal, policy, and institutional challenges affecting efficiency, alongside proposed mitigation measures.

“The government has recently established 47 new State Departments, and efforts are underway to harmonize their operations,” PS Abdisalan told the Committee. He added that the Department is finalizing its organizational structure, which will soon be escalated to the national level.

Separately, the Committee also met with the Private Security Regulatory Authority (PSRA), led by CEO Mr. Philip Leakey Okello, to review the proposed Private Security Regulatory Authority Regulations, 2024.
