The Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) has turned into a gamers’ paradise on Saturday as hundreds flocked to the 2025 Otamatsuri Gaming Convention.

It was a mix of competition, cosplay, music, and pop culture, with Safaricom powering the experience through its 5G network. Gamers said the high speeds made a big difference, especially for live tournaments.

“This is not just about speed. It’s about creating experiences and supporting the growth of gaming in Kenya,” said Safaricom’s Chief Consumer Business Officer, Fawzia Ali.

One of the strongest draws was the overnight LAN Party, where players brought their own devices for marathon battles through several titles.

For veteran player Murray Lidambiza, the night was more than just fun: “I’ve been gaming for 20 years, and seeing how far we’ve come is amazing. Strong internet is what makes this possible.”

With crowds cheering, cosplayers showing off, and gamers locked in competition, Otamatsuri once again proved why it’s one of Kenya’s biggest gaming and pop culture festivals.
