South Mugirango MP Silvanus Osoro has taken a fresh swipe at Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, questioning his leadership credentials.
Osoro dismissed Sifuna’s activist style, arguing that activism does not automatically translate into effective leadership.
“Sifuna is an activist, and activists don’t lead. They don’t make good leaders. Go to Siaya and ask if Orengo has ever done anything for the people. Activists simply talk too much,” Osoro said.
The remarks add to the growing political exchanges between Sifuna and his critics ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Sifuna has in recent months emerged as one of the most vocal opposition figures, using public rallies, Senate debates and media appearances to push his political message.
His growing popularity has also attracted attention in Western Kenya, where he has been involved in political activities alongside other opposition figures.
Osoro has previously questioned whether Sifuna is ready to lead the country.
In an interview on Dr Ofweneke’s podcast, Osoro said Sifuna needed to gain experience in government before making promises to Kenyans.
“When you join government, you understand a bit of government. You stop telling people things that cannot work,” Osoro said.
He added that running government requires an understanding of how public finances work.
The latest attack is likely to deepen the political rivalry between the two camps as politicians position themselves ahead of the 2027 elections.
For Sifuna, the remarks are another challenge to his growing political profile as he seeks to consolidate his influence beyond Nairobi.
