Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party has put its machinery in motion to reclaim the Magarini parliamentary seat after a court annulled the election of Harry Kombe due to voting irregularities.
Governor Gideon Mung’aro, accompanied by Senator Stewart Madzayo, Women Representative Getrude Mbeyu, Kilifi South MP Ken Chonga and party officials from the county, held a series of county hall meetings in Sabaki ward to drum up support for Kombe, who is touted as the broad-based government.
Mung’aro led the team of members of parliament from Sabaki Ward and the county party officials in a series of engagements at the county hall. Kombe, who is seeking to defend his seat in the by-election, was the main target of their appeals.
Governor Mung’aro urged the people to come out in large numbers and re-elect their favorite ODM candidate. Kombe said that its the “broad-based government candidate” who can take over development projects that have been started under his leadership.
Senator Madzayo also made similar remarks. He called on the party supporters to be united in their efforts to keep hold of the Magarini seat and continue an unbroken record of strong presence by the ODM party in the coastal region.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) will be releasing the official date for the Magarini by-election very soon.
