The National Police Service (NPS) is investigating drug trafficking after dismantling a narcotic network operation in Kibera, Nairobi.
The operations carried out by intelligence-led units, targeting dealer suspects fueling addiction and crime in one of the most place most densely populated areas, discovered a consignment of assorted narcotics and drug items.
They include syringes, assorted liquid drugs and unidentified tablets, “Moody” tablets, rolls of cannabis sativa (bhang), alcohol swabs, cotton wool and packets of candles.
The suspects have been held at Kibra Police Station as investigations continue and are set to be arraigned in court. The police emphasized that the operation was part of wider national campaign to dismantle cartels and protect vulnerable youth.
NPS urged the members of the area to be vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement agencies by reporting suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
They also affirmed they are working with Anti-Narcotics Unit and the community to cut down such networks to reduce crime rates and restore community trust.
