The Railway City Affordable Housing Project has been backed by a number of elected leaders who have expressed confidence that the program will reshape the outlook of Landmawe area in Starehe.
The project is expected to deliver 2258 housing units after President William Ruto officiated its ground breaking.
The ground breaking marked the official commencement of the housing component of the Nairobi Railway City Project, a visionary transit-oriented development within Nairobi city.
Housing is one of the precincts that will play a vital role in reshaping Nairobi into a modern, inclusive, and climate-resilient city.
The six precincts comprise of MICE Core ( Meetings,Incentives, Conferences & Exhibitions facilities), Central Station Back, Central Station Front, West Core, Market Core and the Affordable Sustainable Housing Project.
Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu(Nairobi),has backed the program and advised city residents to take advantage.

" This is a revolutionary project that we must all support because we have to change the face of our city by all means," she saidKenya Railways Managing Director Philip Mainga also said that the launch of the Railway City Affordable Housing Project is a significant milestone in actualizing the Government’s Affordable Housing Programme, ensuring that more Kenyans can access dignified and quality homes in well-planned, connected urban spaces.
"As a key partner, Kenya Railways remains committed to delivering integrated transport and urban infrastructure that supports inclusive growth, and long-term sustainability," he saidMeanwhile the Cabinet has approved the implementation of the Nairobi Railway City Central Station and Public Realm Project following a meeting chaired by President William Ruto.
State House said that the project is a transformative infrastructure development designed to decongest Nairobi and revitalise the Central Business District.
“This flagship project, seen as a critical step in attracting private investment to the Railway City, will modernise the outdated Central Station into a state-of-the-art, multi-modal transport hub,” read part of the dispatch.With projected passenger demand rising to 400,000 daily by 2030 and 600,000 by 2045, the new station will feature nine platforms and improved access bridges, allowing for the efficient evacuation of up to 30,000 people per hour.
