Organizers of the annual Nairobi City Marathon are aiming to register 18,000 participants for the 4th edition, scheduled for July 6th.
First launched in 2022, the event has experienced significant growth, with last year’s edition attracting 16,000 runners.
According to Race Director Barnaba Korir, over 6,000 participants have already registered for this year’s race, which will once again feature the 42 km full marathon, 21 km half marathon, 10 km Expressway run, and a 4 km family fun run.
“We have already started holding planning meetings with Nairobi County officials to ensure the race is even more successful this year,” said Korir. “So far, more than 6,000 people have signed up, and we’re optimistic about hitting our target of over 18,000 participants.”
The event also features cash prizes, with Ksh 150,000 for the winners of the half marathon and Ksh 100,000 for the top finishers in the 10 km Expressway run.
Beyond the competition, the marathon aims to promote Nairobi City and highlight the scenic Nairobi Expressway.
