Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has called for enhanced deeper security cooperation between Kenya and Uganda to combat transnational crime, cattle rustling and banditry.
Speaking during a thanksgiving at Amanang Secondary School in Bukwo District Uganda Murkomen stressed on the need for Kenya and Uganda to improve its fortes between them.
“Our two countries share deep social, cultural and economic ties. We will continue to support the free movement of our citizens, enabling Kenyans and Ugandans to live, work and do business across our borders as envisioned in the East African Community protocol,” said Murkomen
He said the two nations would continue supporting free movement of their citizens, so Kenyans and Ugandans can have an opportunity to work and do business across their borders ij line with the East African Community integration framework.
Murkomen stated that security agencies in Kenya’s West Pokot County and adjacent areas of Uganda were ordered to collaborate effectively for a long time peace to prevail in the border.
He said that criminals will not be able to commit crimes in one country and run to another.
“We will not allow criminals to commit offences in one country and seek refuge in the other,” he warned
He also expressed support for the impending completion and commissioning of the Suam One Stop Border Post by Presidents William Ruto and Yoweri Museveni.
