Likoni MP Hon. Mishi Mboko has accused Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua of violating the constitution by using derogatory language towards women.

Speaking during the ongoing debate on the Deputy President’s impeachment motion, Mboko condemned Gachagua for referring to one of their female colleagues as malaya (a prostitute), asserting that such an insult extends to all Kenyan women.

“When you call one woman malaya, you have insulted all the women of Kenya,” Mboko stated passionately. “We are not prostitutes; we are mothers and leaders.”

She further criticized the Deputy President for showing a lack of respect toward the women of the nation, stating that his remarks reflect poorly on his integrity as a leader.

“Honorable Gachagua, you have no respect for the women of this nation,” Mboko added, reiterating the need for dignity and respect in leadership, especially towards women who serve in key public positions.

Her remarks come as Gachagua faces impeachment proceedings on grounds of gross misconduct, among other charges, with the National Assembly set to vote on the matter.
