Murang’a Women Representative Betty Maina has issued a scathing attack on Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, calling for his resignation and accusing him of undermining President William Ruto’s leadership.

Speaking during a recent event, Maina echoed sentiments shared by Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi, who had earlier called for Gachagua to vacate his office within two weeks.

Maina, who is also the spouse of Mathira MP Erick Wamumbi, emphasized that Gachagua had outlived his usefulness in government, and the time had come for him to step down.

“As Oscar Sudi said, Gachagua should vacate his office within those two weeks. We are done with him, and he’s on his way out,” she stated, adding that the Deputy President’s behavior was harmful to the administration. “He needs to stop chest-thumping and blackmailing the president.”

Maina went further, claiming that Gachagua had lost support even within his own family.

“As the spouse of his MP, I can tell you he has even been rejected in his own home,” she revealed.

Her remarks come amid growing tension within the Kenya Kwanza government, with reports of divisions and dissatisfaction with Gachagua’s leadership style.

However, Gachagua has maintained his ground, often positioning himself as a key defender of the Mt. Kenya region’s interests.
