Former Chief Justice and presidential candidate David Maraga has slammed the government for the fuel price hike exposing that the increase will affect the cost of living especially for the ordinary Kenyan.
While addressing the gathering in Nandi County, the ex-Chief Justice warned that high price of fuel will have a back door effect on the economy meaning the prices of goods and services will go up.
Besides that, he had given the example of the majority of the families that are struggling to make ends meet as the increase in prices is a decision that will see them pushed further into poverty.
Maraga held the government accountable for the failure of equipping the citizens with the necessary tools in these rising costs times. He even described the state “economic terrorism, ” emphasizing that the government must come up with a solution before it spirals out of control.
Mataga called on the authorities to act fast and reverse fuel prices and maintain a healthy economy at the same time.
Making reference to the time when Kenyans are seeing their buying power being eroded, he mentioned their welfare should be the government’s main focus.
