A community health nurse in Kisii County is among three people arrested after a failed attempt to inject a hospitalised 82-year-old man with a suspicious substance.

Police say the shocking murder plot unfolded at Bosongo Hospital in Kitutu Central, where two men approached a medical intern and offered him Ksh.10,000 to inject patient Jacob Moseti with an unknown drug and record the act on video.

Sensing danger, the intern outwitted the duo by pretending to cooperate while alerting hospital authorities. The suspects were later arrested and led police to 25-year-old Fiona Mogere, a community nurse they claim supplied the syringe.

Mogere was also arrested and placed under suicide watch at Nyanchwa Police Station after she was found with a pesticide, which officers suspect she intended to ingest.

Moseti, frail but alert, believes the attack may have been linked to a family feud over accusations of witchcraft. Police are holding the suspects for 14 days as investigations continue.
