Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has intensified efforts to strengthen the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) grassroots structures ahead of the 2027 General Election, meeting about 15,000 party officials in Tharaka Nithi County.

Kindiki said UDA is the only political party in Kenya with elected officials at every polling centre across the country, giving it a strong grassroots network ahead of the election.

He spoke on Friday in Irunduni, Tharaka Nithi County, where he met UDA officials from across the county and commissioned them to defend the party and the government as the country enters the election year.

According to Kindiki, the party has 20 elected officials at every polling centre who will play a key role in explaining the government’s progress in implementing its 2022 manifesto.

“These are the foot soldiers for defending our track record and shielding our communities from agendaless and superficial political outfits seeking leadership through lies and empty chants and slogans,” Kindiki said.

He said the grassroots officials would help explain the government’s achievements in stabilising the economy, improving agricultural productivity, education and healthcare, creating jobs and expanding rural electrification and sports facilities.

Kindiki congratulated the newly elected grassroots officials and urged them to take an active role in defending the party and the government as political activity intensifies ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The mobilisation comes as political parties across the country strengthen their grassroots networks and structures ahead of the next elections.
