The Kenya Air Para-Badminton national team clinched two gold medals at the just-concluded World Ability Sports Beach Games held at Pompei Beach in Mersin, Turkey, on Friday.
Kenya’s first triumph came in the Mixed Triples final, where coach John Mburu’s side — Patrick Mwema, Benson Nduva, and Mary Nduku, with Caleb Omollo and Boniface Were as substitutes — defeated Turkey 2 3–1 to claim their maiden international gold.
Buoyed by the victory, the team regrouped after a brief recovery session at the Mediterranean Sea and returned for the Mixed Triples Relays final.
The Kenyan trio of Nduku, Mwema, and Omollo started strongly, racing to a narrow lead before substitutes Elizabeth Nabwire, Nduva, and Omollo sealed the win with a final 60-point score against Turkey 1.
The thrilling finish earned Kenya its second gold medal and marked a historic achievement at the inaugural World Ability Sports Beach Games.
Team Kenya departs Mersin on Sunday afternoon and is expected home early Monday, turning their focus to the upcoming Africa and World Para-Badminton Championships in 2026.
