Two Kenyans are among 14 people who died in a South Sudan plane crash, authorities have confirmed. In a statement issued on April 27, the South Sudan Civil Aviation Authority said the aircraft went down about 20 kilometres southwest of Juba, with no survivors reported.
The plane, a Cessna 208 Caravan operated by CityLink Aviation Ltd, had departed Yei for Juba International Airport at 9:15 am before losing communication at 9:43 am. On board were 13 passengers and one pilot, including two Kenyan nationals and 12 South Sudanese.
Preliminary findings point to poor weather conditions, particularly low visibility, as a possible cause of the crash. Response teams have been dispatched to the site to support recovery efforts and gather more details, as authorities continue investigations into the tragedy.
