The Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports has revealed that Kenya has been removed from the compliance watchlist by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
Salim Mvurya ,Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports said the move marked a significant milestone in the country’s efforts to strengthen integrity in sports.
He welcomed the move noting that the WADA had formally closed the compliance procedure concerning Kenya and removed the Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya (ADAK) from its compliance watchlist.
“Following the audit findings, the Government moved swiftly and decisively to address the identified corrective measures. ADAK developed and implemented a comprehensive corrective action plan within the stipulated timelines, which strengthened governance and oversight structures, enhanced operational independence, improved results management processes, reinforced intelligence and investigations capacity, and streamlined the management of athlete whereabouts systems, “statement read.
He said the decision followed recommendation by WADA’s Compliance Review Committee, which confirmed that ADAK has fully aligned with the World Anti-Doping Code and the applicable International Standards.
The government said the move came after a successful corrective process that followed an audit conducted in May 2024 under the International Standard for Code Compliance by Signatories (ISCCS).
