The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority has appointed Nicholas Bodo as Acting Director General following the exit of Emile Arao.

In a notice released on April 23, the authority said Arao left office on April 22 after completing his term.

“Board of Directors would like to notify the general public of a change in leadership in the Authority,” the statement read.

Arao was appointed Director General in April 2022, succeeding Gilbert Kibe. His term in office expires today after three years.

As acting director, Bodo holds the position of senior deputy director in the Ministry of Transport. This appointment is on an interim basis pending the appointment of a permanent Director General through the recruitment process.

It was indicated that Bodo would be responsible for the day-to-day running of KCAA during this transitional period.

According to KCAA, the recruitment process for the position of Director General shall be competitive and transparent.

This development notwithstanding, it was stated that the authority’s operations shall proceed as usual and it remains committed to ensuring safety and efficiency in Kenya’s aviation industry.
