In a deal brokered by President William Ruto, Kenya Airways will from March resume direct flights to Luanda, Angola.
The national carrier suspended direct flights to Angola in August 2020 as part of a cost-reduction strategy following the COVID-19 pandemic.
President Ruto announced the resumption after meeting his Angolan counterpart João Lourenço on Wednesday, January 8, saying the move marks a significant step in strengthening diplomatic and economic ties between the two nations.
In reciprocation for Kenya being a visa-free nation, Angola will work towards waiving visa requirements for Kenyans visiting the country.
“This move will enable our professionals like teachers to access Angola much more easily,” said Ruto.
