ICT Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo on Thursday held a high-level meeting with a delegation from Microsoft to explore strategic partnerships aimed at accelerating Kenya’s digital transformation agenda.

The discussions, held at the Ministry’s headquarters, focused on key pillars including cybersecurity, protection of public infrastructure and citizen data, and the nationwide roll-out of Digital Hubs.

The two parties also engaged in deeper conversations on Artificial Intelligence (AI) integration in government operations to enhance service delivery, policymaking, and institutional resilience.

“Digital innovation is not optional; it is the backbone of a modern, efficient, and secure government,” Kabogo said, emphasizing the Ministry’s commitment to embracing cutting-edge technologies while safeguarding national data.

The meeting also addressed the critical issue of data governance and compliance, with both teams underscoring the importance of trusted cloud partnerships and sovereign control over national data systems.

Present at the meeting were Principal Secretaries Stephen Isaboke (Broadcasting & Telecommunications) and Eng. John Tanui (ICT & Digital Economy), along with Emmanuel Kata, Secretary for ICT and Security Audit Control.

The Microsoft team was led by Rashida Hodge, Corporate Vice President for Data and AI Customer Success; Aarti Borkar, Corporate Vice President for Security, Customer Success & Incident Response; and Phyllis Migwi, Microsoft’s Kenya Country Manager.
