Inspector-General of Police Douglas Kanja has accompanied Interior Cabinet Secretary Onesmus Murkomen to the 2026 Conference of the Global Public Security Cooperation Forum in China.
The conference is being held in Lianyungang, Jiangsu, from September 9, 2026, bringing together stakeholders to strengthen international cooperation on public security.
According to the National Police Service, the annual forum seeks to promote dialogue and practical cooperation in addressing emerging security threats that are increasingly transnational in nature.
The conference features eight specialised sub-forums covering key areas of global security.
These include migration management, international drug control, counter-terrorism, cybersecurity, public-security technology and equipment, police education, tourism security and international security services.
Kanja is attending the forum alongside senior officers drawn from various departments of the National Police Service.
The meeting comes as countries seek stronger collaboration in tackling cross-border crimes, terrorism, cyber threats, drug trafficking and other emerging security challenges.
Kenya’s participation provides an opportunity for its security agencies to engage with international counterparts and explore new approaches, technologies and partnerships in public security management.
