The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has announced that all pending by-elections for various elective seats will be held on November 27, 2025.
According to a gazette notice from the commission, by-elections will be done in two phases. The first batch, published on Friday, August 8, lists 16 Members of County Assembly (MCA) seats in Samburu, Nandi, Tana River, Garissa, Nairobi, Kakamega, Elgeyo Marakwet, Machakos, Narok, Kajiado, Uasin Gishu, Nyamira, and Turkana counties.These include Angata Nanyokie, Chemundu/Kapng’etuny, Chewani, Fafi, Kariobangi North, Kisa East, Metkei, Mumbuni North, Narok Town, Purko, Tembelio, Nyansiongo, Nyamaiya, Ekerenyo, Lake Zone and Nanaam wards.
The second batch, to be published in a special gazette on Monday, August 11, will cover higher-level seats. These include the Baringo County Senate seat, six National Assembly constituencies — Banissa, Kasipul, Magarini, Malava, Mbeere North and Ugunja — and the Kabuchai/Chwele MCA seat in Bungoma County.
