ICT and Digital Economy Ministry seals contracts to fast-track digital transformation

ICT Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo on Thursday presided over the signing of contracts by the ministry top officials .

Taking to his socila media pages, Kabogo said “What get measured get done ” signaling ministry readiness to deliver on the mandates.

“This afternoon, I signed Performance Contracts with the Principal Secretaries for ICT and the Digital Economy, Eng. John Tanui, and for Broadcasting and Telecommunications, Mr. Stephen Isaboke. Subsequently, I also signed performance contracts with the Chairpersons and Chief Executive Officers of all the Semi-Autonomous Government Agencies (SAGAs) under the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy,’ he said.

He noted that through the exercise, the ministry has firmly outlined its commitments to deliver tangible results for citizens, in alignment with the Kenya Kwanza Manifesto and H.E. President William Ruto’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).

“We are committed to expanding the Digital Superhighway by rolling out nationwide affordable high-speed internet, digitizing government services, creating digital jobs, and positioning Kenya as Africa’s ICT innovation hub. We will undertake in-house quarterly reviews to track implementation and build on the gains made during last year’s evaluation, where the Ministry recorded notable improvements in performance, particularly in service delivery within its core mandate,” Kabogo added.

Among the insitutions that signed contracts includes the Communications Authority of Kenya, Media Council of Kenya, Kenya Yearbook Editorial Board, Kenya Institute of Mass Communication, National Communication Secretariat, ICT Authority, Office of the Data Protection Commissioner, and Konza Technopolis.

The signing ceremony was graced by Ahmed Abdisalan Ibrahim, Principal Secretary (PS) for the State Department for National Government Coordination among other senior government officials.
