ICT Cabinet Secretary William Abogo has underscored the importance of high-speed internet connectivity in enhancing national security and effective surveillance.
Speaking during a visit to Diani Police Station earlier today, CS William Kabogo emphasized that secure and reliable internet access is not only vital for communication but also for supporting modern security operations across the country.
“High-speed internet connection is vital for the security surveillance of the nation,” stated Abogo during his inspection of the station’s digital infrastructure.
Diani Police Station is among 35 government sites in Kwale County that have been connected to public Wi-Fi under the first phase of the Digital SuperHighway (DSH) Project, a government initiative aimed at boosting connectivity in public institutions.
The CS noted that the second phase of the DSH project is currently underway and will see an additional 51 sites in Kwale County connected to the internet, significantly improving access to digital services.
Present during the visit were Msambweni Sub-County Chief Information Officer Mr. Kunga Muli, Msambweni Deputy County Commissioner Mr. Joseph Mutisya, Diani Police Station Officer Commanding Station Mr. Eliud Kimwale, and other government officials.
