Grade Nine learners who sat the 2025 Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) can now check their results on their phones, offering quick relief to families that have been anxiously waiting for the outcome.
On Thursday, parents, teachers and candidates were advised to send the learner’s assessment number to 22263. The SMS, which costs Ksh30, returns the full results as well as the student’s selected school choices based on their chosen career pathway.
“It’s simple send the assessment number to 22263 to view the learner’s results and school selections,” read part of a notice from a leading telecom provider.
The exam, taken between October 27 and November 3, is a key checkpoint for learners moving to senior secondary school under the new education system. For many households, the results mark the start of planning for the next step uniforms, school options, and in some cases, long conversations about career paths.
The update comes two weeks after Basic Education PS Julius Bitok assured the public that the results would be out in early December. Speaking on November 17, he said the Ministry was ready for the transition of more than one million learners.
Although KNEC has not formally announced the results’ release, placement to senior schools is expected to begin almost immediately. According to the Ministry of Education, learners should have their placement letters by December 25, with schools set to open for the new class on January 12, 2026.
The Council has also warned the public to be wary of fraudsters claiming they can alter scores. In a statement issued on Wednesday, KNEC said it had received reports of individuals posing as “insiders” and asking parents for money in exchange for grade changes a scam that surfaces around exam season every year.
As SMS alerts continue to go out across the country, Thursday’s announcement has eased tension for thousands of families, many of whom have been checking their phones throughout the day waiting for the long-anticipated results.
