Central Police Station OCS Dishon Angoya has once again been detained shortly after hospital visit, in a fresh twist to a case that has continued to attract public attention.
The officer is under investigation for allegedly releasing suspects arrested during recent fuel price protests in Nairobi on Monday.
According to reports, the officer was arrested by Nairobi deputy regional police commander after claims surfaced that several suspects detained during demonstrations over rising fuel prices were released under unclear circumstances.
The matter has now escalated into a major internal police probe, with authorities reportedly seeking to establish whether proper procedures were followed in the release of the suspects.
Angoya was later taken for medical attention before being detained again, adding a dramatic twist to a case that is already attracting public and political attention.
The arrests stem from demonstrations that erupted in Nairobi over the rising cost of fuel, where several protesters were rounded up by police during running battles in the CBD.
Some of those arrested were reportedly accused of obstructing traffic and disrupting movement during the protests.
The release of the suspects has now become the focus of investigations, with questions emerging over whether there was interference or breach of procedure at the station.
The case has intensified scrutiny on police conduct and internal discipline within the National Police Service, especially at a time when security agencies are under pressure to demonstrate accountability.
It also comes amid heightened public tension over fuel prices and growing criticism over the handling of protests in the capital.
The renewed detention of the OCS is likely to fuel further debate on how police commanders handle politically sensitive arrests and public order cases.
