Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Sheriff Nassir has appointed Maurice Ogeta, longtime security aide to the late Raila Odinga, as his Advisor on Security Affairs, highlighting Ogeta’s decades of experience, loyalty, and extensive knowledge of security matters.
In a statement on Thursday, Governor Abdulswamad said the appointments follow the creation of new positions by the Mombasa County Public Service Board and are in line with legal provisions.
He emphasized that the roles are designed to strengthen the Governor’s Executive Office as the county advances its development and governance agenda.
Ogeta is well known for his close association with Raila Odinga, having served as his trusted security aide during high-pressure political campaigns, public engagements, and both regional and international assignments.
“I have today made appointments in the Executive Office of the Governor following the establishment of positions by the Mombasa County Public Service Board, in line with the provisions of the law. Mr. Maurice Ogeta has been appointed to serve as Advisor on Security Affairs in the County Government of Mombasa. This appointment is informed by his many years of experience and deep institutional knowledge built at local, regional, and global levels, including his service to our late Founding Party Leader, Raila Odinga, C.G.H.,” the statement read.

Ogeta’s expertise in security operations and coordination is expected to strengthen efforts to improve public safety and enhance inter-agency collaboration in Mombasa.
