Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale says more than 24 million Kenyans have been enrolled in the Taifa Care programme under the Social Health Authority (SHA).

Five million people have been treated through the Primary Healthcare Fund and 2 million others have accessed specialized services under the SHA.

Duale while speaking during a media briefing at SHA headquarters after addressing members of the staff said over 550,000 mothers supported through maternal health coverage and Ksh 6.82 billion in claims already paid, with another Ksh 1.5 billion under verification.

He reiterated government’s commitment to delivering quality, affordable healthcare to every Kenyan.

“Tomorrow, we head to Nakuru to keep the momentum going. No one will be left behind,” he said.

He assured staff and the public that the ongoing SHA recruitment is fully compliant with the SHI Act, 2023 and guided by transparency, merit, and fairness.

Former NHIF staff are being prioritized, with guarantees of job retention or redeployment at existing terms.

“We are building a people-first institution. No public servant will be left behind, and no fraudulent credentials will be tolerated,” he added.
