Duale Hosts African Ministers in Nairobi Showdown

Health Cabinet Secretary Hon. Aden Duale has led high-level discussions with African health leaders and private sector stakeholders on the sidelines of the 2026 10th Africa Health Business Symposium taking place in Nairobi.

The engagement brought together health ministers and representatives from Nigeria, Senegal, Uganda, South Africa, Cameroon, Malawi, and other private healthcare institutions, focusing on strengthening collaboration in advancing healthcare systems across the continent.

Duale held discussions with Nigeria’s Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Iziaq Adekunle Salako, alongside key players in the African health sector, in a meeting aimed at setting the tone for the symposium.

“The engagement reaffirmed our shared commitment to positioning health as a strategic driver of economic growth and long-term prosperity on the continent, “he said.

According to Duale, the deliberations reaffirmed a shared commitment to positioning health as a key driver of economic growth and long-term prosperity in Africa.

He emphasized the importance of strong global partnerships and increased private sector participation in supporting Kenya’s Universal Health Coverage (UHC) agenda.

“We continue to view health not merely as a service, but as a strategic investment for sustainable development,” Duale noted, highlighting Kenya’s ongoing reforms in the health sector.

Also present was Dr. Amit Thakker, Chairman of Africa Health Business and Founder and Board Director of the East Africa Healthcare Federation, who underscored the role of regional cooperation in strengthening health systems.
