Afrobeat singer Davido has opened up about his collaboration with fellow Afrobeat musician Wizkid, stating they are planning a joint tour with Wizkid that would sell out venues worldwide, revealing that he would demand $500,000 for each show.
“If we tour together, I’ll ask for $500,000 per show because I know every venue will sell out,” Davido said.
He revealed that the two haven’t recorded a song for 10 years, explaining that their failure was due to him not being in the same mental space as Wizkid, and people having different opinions about their rivalry would make them bigger or would boost about their careers.
“Wizkid and I have never been in the studio together for 10 years, and even if we do, it might be overhyped like people say,” he said.
According to reports, supporters of both artists have repeatedly called for them to put their differences aside and enter the studio to create music together.
Their careers have developed alongside each other, with both artists achieving international recognition, attracting massive audiences and contributing to the global expansion of Afrobeats.
However, their relationship has been complicated by years of public disagreements, fan comparisons and occasional tension, their supporters have tried to keep their names at the centre of entertainment conversations.
He added about their past relationship and disagreements, stating it takes maturity for someone to admit when their feelings have changed.
“I felt that way at some point but not anymore and it takes a great man to do that,” he added.
