County Executive Committee (CEC) Members for Health gathered in Nairobi for a consultative meeting, led by Dr. Zeinab Gura, Deputy Director General for Health, to discuss their readiness for the Social Health Authority (SHA) rollout under Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
“We need a unified approach to ensure no county is left behind,” Dr. Gura emphasized, urging collaboration between the Ministry of Health and county governments.
Key issues discussed included infrastructure gaps, staff shortages, and healthcare digitization. The counties were urged to prioritize digital health systems to improve patient care and access.
“We must be proactive in addressing these challenges if we are to meet the expectations of our citizens,” said a CEC member.
The meeting ended with a commitment to develop strategies for overcoming these barriers and ensuring a smooth SHA transition.
