Bravin Yuri Calls Out Kenya’s “Copy-Paste” Culture, Says It’s Mentally Exhausting

Media personality and creative commentator Bravin Yuri has ignited online debate after openly criticising what he describes as Kenya’s growing “copy-paste” culture , a trend he says is draining originality and critical thinking.

In a strongly worded post shared on his social media, Bravin took aim at the country’s tendency to jump on trends without reflection. He likened it to a “monkey-see, monkey-do” mindset, where once one person adopts a lifestyle, habit, or aesthetic, the rest quickly follow suit.

According to Bravin, the pattern has become predictable and overwhelming. From wellness trends to cosmetic procedures and digital content styles, he argues that individuality is increasingly being sacrificed for viral relevance. In his words, when one person embraces something new whether it’s hugging trees, cosmetic enhancements, weight-loss drugs, or live streaming everyone else rushes to do the same, often without understanding why.

The comment that particularly caught attention was his reference to Ozempic, a medication that has recently become a hot topic online, alongside cosmetic surgery trends like BBLs and the surge in IRL (in-real-life) streaming. Bravin’s point wasn’t to shame choices, but to question the lack of independent thought behind them.

Some social media users applauded Bravin for saying what many creatives quietly feel, arguing that trend-chasing has diluted authenticity in Kenya’s content and lifestyle spaces.
