A police recruit has died after collapsing during a training session at the General Service Unit (GSU) Field Campus in Magadi, Kajiado County.
The recruit, Cheme Chombo Cheme, lost consciousness on Saturday while taking part in routine drills. He was rushed to Magadi Hospital and later transferred to Kenyatta National Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
This is now the third death of a police recruit since trainees reported to colleges in December 2025, deepening concerns among families and fellow officers.
On January 18, 2026, another recruit died while undergoing treatment at the Administration Police Training College (APTC) in Embakasi.
The trainee had earlier complained of chest pain, dizziness, cough and fatigue before his condition worsened.
A similar case was also reported at the Kiganjo Police Training Campus, making Magadi the third college linked to recruit deaths in just over a month.
The police deaths come as the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) also mourn three recruits who died during training at the Defence Forces Recruits Training School (DFRTS) in Eldoret.
KDF said the incident happened on January 29, 2026, during a routine endurance exercise.
The recruits developed medical complications and were given first aid before being rushed to Eldoret Regional Hospital. Despite doctors’ efforts, all three were pronounced dead.
The military has informed the families and said it is offering support.
