President William Ruto on Wednesday led a live digital classroom session at Kiminini Junior Secondary School in Trans Nzoia County, connecting learners from different schools across the country.
The session, held on October 14, 2026, demonstrated how digital technology can allow learners and teachers in different locations to interact and share learning experiences in real time.
The initiative, known as the National Digital Class Experience, is being rolled out under the Kenya Digital Economy Acceleration Project (KDEAP), with funding from the World Bank through the International Development Association (IDA).
The programme is part of the government’s Digital Skills and Markets initiative.
Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communication and the Digital Economy William Kabogo joined the session from St George’s Junior Secondary School in Ruiru, Kiambu County.
Cabinet Secretary for Gender Hannah Cheptumo and Musa Sirma participated from Kabimoi Junior Secondary School in Baringo County, while ICT Authority Board Chairperson Lily Ngok joined learners at Kericho Township Junior Secondary School.
The live connections brought together classrooms in different counties, demonstrating how the technology can enable learners and teachers to exchange knowledge without being in the same physical location.
The government said the initiative would support digital connectivity among schools nationwide, giving learners and teachers more opportunities to interact and share educational experiences.
The rollout forms part of Kenya’s wider efforts to use digital technology in education under the Kenya Digital Economy Acceleration Project.
