Kenya entertainment music is mourning the death of Gengetone musician Edgar, popularly known as Stoopid Boy, has passed away on the evening of August 27. Stoopid Boy was known for his song “G Baga Jat.”
The news, confirmed by Oga Obinna has amplified across social media platforms, has left fans and fellow creators in shock. Kenyans have expressed their heartbreak and paid tribute to the entertainer.
The cause of his death is yet to be established.
Stoopid Boy became famous in 2024, with his song becoming a viral anthem, with rhythms capturing the spirit of arbantone, a genre blending gengetone with Jamaican riddims. His work resonated with urban youth, offering both entertainment and cultural identity.
Among the fans to pay his tribute was his close friend Jay Classic who has paid tribute and confirming the death of Stoopid Boy: “I am here at Gotha City and Stoopid Boy has indeed died. It is really bad. But we pray for the family and we pray to God that will be well,” Jay said.
