Director of Public Prosecutions Renson Ingonga on Wednesday chaired the morning session of the ongoing National Council on the Administration of Justice (NCAJ) national meeting, with discussions centered on reforms aimed at transforming Kenya’s correctional services.
Ingonga, who also serves as the Vice Chairperson of the NCAJ, led deliberations focusing on improving the country’s correctional facilities through the adoption of innovative ideas, global best practices, and practical policy proposals.
The session brought together justice sector stakeholders to explore reforms that will strengthen the efficiency and effectiveness of correctional institutions while enhancing rehabilitation programmes, protecting human rights, and improving the overall administration of correctional facilities.
Participants also examined ways of modernizing Kenya’s correctional system to ensure it aligns with constitutional principles and international standards, with a strong emphasis on promoting rehabilitation and successful reintegration of offenders into society.
The NCAJ national meeting has entered its third and final day, marking the conclusion of three days of discussions involving key institutions in the justice sector.
The forum is expected to culminate in the adoption of a set of resolutions aimed at advancing justice sector reforms, with the final outcomes of the deliberations set to be published later on Wednesday.
