Residents of Yatta Constituency in Machakos County are set to benefit from improved access to land services following the commissioning of the new Kithimani Land Registry by Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki.
The new registry is expected to end years of inconvenience for residents who previously travelled to Machakos Town to access land registration and documentation services.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony on Wednesday, Prof.
Kindiki said all land records for residents had been transferred to the new registry and that personnel responsible for land adjudication, surveying, registration and titling had been deployed to ensure efficient service delivery.
The Deputy President announced that the government was issuing 1,300 title deeds to residents as part of efforts to strengthen land ownership and enhance security of tenure in the area.
He added that the government would also fast-track the resolution of land disputes to ensure more residents receive their ownership documents without unnecessary delays.
The establishment of the registry is part of the government’s efforts to decentralise public services and bring essential land administration closer to wananchi, reducing travel costs and processing time.
