The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) has officially commissioned the Ngong Road–Naivasha Road Flyover at Junction Mall, marking a major milestone in Nairobi’s efforts to improve urban mobility and reduce traffic congestion.
The newly completed 255-metre, four-lane flyover is expected to significantly ease traffic flow along one of the capital’s busiest transport corridors by separating through traffic from vehicles accessing Naivasha Road and surrounding areas.
The project is designed to improve connectivity, reduce travel time, and enhance the overall efficiency of movement within the city.
KURA described the commissioning as a significant step towards transforming Nairobi’s transport infrastructure, noting that the flyover will benefit thousands of motorists and commuters who use the corridor daily.
“The day is here. Today marks the commissioning of the Ngong Road–Naivasha Road Flyover at Junction Mall. Built by KURA, the 255m, four-lane flyover will ease congestion, improve connectivity, cut travel time, and boost mobility across Nairobi,” the authority said in a statement.

Construction of the project began in September 2024 and forms part of the government’s broader programme to modernize Nairobi’s road network.
Besides the elevated roadway, the project also incorporates improved junctions, pedestrian walkways, cycling lanes, upgraded drainage systems, and modern street lighting to enhance safety for all road users.

The flyover is expected to play a critical role in decongesting traffic around the Junction Mall area, improving access to key residential and commercial zones including Karen, Dagoretti, Ngong, and the Nairobi Central Business District.
