The United States Embassy in Nairobi on Friday hosted a retirement luncheon in honour of outgoing General Service Unit (GSU) Commandant Ranson Lolmodooni, MBS, OGW, SAIG, recognizing his years of service and the longstanding security partnership between the Embassy and Kenya’s National Police Service.

The luncheon, held at the Chief of Mission’s Residence in Muthaiga, brought together senior officials from the US Embassy and the General Service Unit to celebrate Mr. Lolmodooni’s leadership as he prepares to retire.

Speaking during the event, Mr. Lolmodooni commended the US Embassy for its continued support and collaboration with the GSU through the National Police Service. He called for an even stronger partnership, particularly in advancing the GSU’s mandate of safeguarding Kenya’s internal security.

“The partnership between the US Embassy and the GSU has been instrumental over the years, and we look forward to even greater cooperation in strengthening our capacity to protect the country,” he said.

The US Embassy’s Regional Security Officer, Corryn Stratton, lauded the close working relationship between the Embassy and the GSU, noting that the collaboration has yielded significant benefits for both institutions.

She expressed confidence that the partnership would continue to grow under the new GSU leadership.

Also present from the US Embassy were Deputy Regional Security Officer Justin Geinert, Assistant Regional Security Officer Jonathan Welch, SPEAR Mentor Tarrol Peterson, and Senior Foreign Service National Investigator Julius Norberts.

Mr. Lolmodooni was accompanied by the newly appointed GSU Commandant Johana Tonui, AIG, Deputy Commanding Officer of the GSU Recce Tactical Sub-unit Jeremy Ndegwa, SSP, Officer Commanding the Unit Police and VIP Protection Siyad Abdi, ASP, alongside other senior GSU officers.

The luncheon underscored the enduring cooperation between the United States Embassy and Kenya’s National Police Service in enhancing security, capacity building, and professional policing.
