Following the tragic fire at Utumishi Girls Academy in Gilgil, Nakuru County which resulted in the death of 16 students and several others injured, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has conveyed his heartfelt sympathies.

At the 23rd National Prayer Breakfast held at Safari Park Hotel in Nairobi, the Deputy President said the nation is grieving the loss of young girls whose futures had been cut short by tragic fire incident.

“Learnt with deep shock and profound sorrow that we have lost 16 girls of Utumishi Girls Academy in Gilgil while scores others have been injured in a fire tragedy at school.” stated Kindiki.

He considered the deaths as a sad reminder of life’s vulnerabilities, and remarked that the students had aspirations and ambitions for the future but their lives were abruptly ended.

“Losing young girls, who are full of hope and dreams for the future, in such a brutal and painful manner, is a vivid reminder of how temporary our lives are, ” he made his point.

The second in comand expressed his sympathies to the family members and also wished the injured students who are undergoing treatment a speedy recovery.

“Condolences to the bereaved families, quick recovery to the injured.” he said

He gave Kenyans a word of assurance that the government stands strongly with all those affected and is faithful to supporting the school community in their mourning and recovering challenging period.

“Government is with all those affected and is dedicated to providing support to the school community to help them come to terms with this tragedy, ” he stated.

Kindiki also extended heartfelt message to the deceased students “May the souls of our children who have perished find rest in eternity.” he lamented

With President William Ruto, government leaders, religious figures, and thousands of Kenyans and international visitors, the Deputy President stressed the value of faith, unity, and compassion Mostly in the midst of national tragedy.

He reminded that nations are divine creations and genuine faith is shown by deeds and serving people more than just speaking.

The terrible fire at Utumishi Girls Academy has been a source of messages of sympathy from different leaders in the country while authorities are still working on identifying the cause of the fire.
