Kenyan content creator and photographer Faustine Lukale, popularly known as Baba Talisha, has raised concern about why the government is silent on the rising cases of missing children.
Sharing the concern on his social media platforms, Baba Talisha has asked: “Mbona Government haiongelei hii story ya watoto wadogo kupotea alafu wanapatikana wakiwa wameuliwa? Kwani ni nini hio watoto wanaenda shule kusoma by 5 am?”
His remarks have come in the wake of alarming statistics released by the Ministry of Gender, stating between January 2025 and March 2026, Kenya recorded 10,581 child protection cases, averaging 23 missing children daily. Many were rescued, but cases of abduction, trafficking and abandonment remain high.
Baba Talisha’s statement resonated with parents and guardians across the country, who have raised the same concern, which has led to many reported cases of children and even the adults going missing.
His concern questions why many parents and guardians let their children leave for school at dawn, often walking long distances in unsafe environment, while there has been less surveillance in neighborhoods, making children vulnerable to predators. Meanwhile, the authorities are less active in their duty, instead of being more proactive in addressing child safety.
Baba Talisha’s statement is a cry to individuals and the public to awaken as he is shows the frustration of ordinary citizen who feel their children’s safety is not being prioritized. He is demanding accountability and reminding the public that child protection is not just government responsibility, but a collective duty of parents, communities and institutions.
