President William Ruto spent the weekend in Kisumu County as he continues with his tour of various development projects across the country.
In a series of posts shared on his official X and other social media handles, the President shared highlights of his activities during the day, including the launch of a crucial project to build a new Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) from Kisumu to Malaba.
The launch of the project took place in Kibos, where various leaders, as well as Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni, attended.
In one of his posts, President Ruto explained that the new rail line would help improve connectivity between Kenya and Uganda, making trade easier and cheaper.
“This project will strengthen trade and open up more opportunities for our people,” he explained.
The Kisumu-Malaba rail line is part of a bigger plan to extend the rail from the coast to other countries, which will help improve trade.
The President has been touring different parts of western Kenya in recent days, launching and inspecting projects. From his updates, he has also been focusing on roads, electricity, and other development programmes aimed at improving livelihoods.
Saturday’s event added to a busy schedule, as the government pushes ahead with infrastructure projects it says will support economic growth.
Mr. President has been using his social media platforms to keep Kenyans updated on these activities, sharing photos and short messages from each stop of the tour.
